Cursillo: A Short Course In Christian Living
We welcome you to join us!
What is Cursillo? The name means "A Short Course in Christian Living."
Cursillo is a movement directed by the laity. Its method is highly encouraged by the Vatican and our Archdiocese. It is one of only 121 officially recognized Charisms (gifts from the Holy Spirit) within the worldwide Catholic church.
Cursillo is dedicated to spreading the Word of God and helping people form a closer relationship with Jesus Christ. It emphasizes the importance of a balanced life of being close to Christ, continued spiritual study and helping bring others to Christ.
Cursillo helps us each day:
By bringing us into a closer relationship with God;
By giving us a sense of joy, peace, and hope;
By being in a supportive Christian community of friends with whom you can share your life long faith journey;
By expanding your prayer life;
By giving the ability to share God's word in a natural way to the people you interact with each day;
By encouraging each other as part of a bigger community.
Who should participate? Any Catholic 18 years or older, single or married. If a couple, it is recommended for both to attend.
It all begins with a three day weekend, which is led by lay people and spiritual directors. You will need a sponsor, someone already in the Cursillo community. Your sponsor will explain the weekend format for you and the ongoing life long experience you will enjoy after your weekend.
If you are interested and would like further information or need help finding a sponsor, please contact Church of the Risen Savior Parish Cursillo Ambassadors
