A spoken or written word has something to do with the person who speaks or writes. There is power and inspiration in a human word and through it we feel connected with a real person. The same is true with the Word of God. When we read from the Bible or hear the Word proclaimed in the Liturgy we feel a connection with God.
This Word of God has an impact on us, “achieving the end for which I [God] sent it,” as we hear from the prophet Isaiah today. Our hearing and reading the Word of God becomes like a seed that is planted deep within us. God desires something wonderful and fruitful to grow in us.
What Word of God has taken root in you in your reading from the Bible? What Word of God proclaimed in the Liturgy has taken root in you?
