Today we hear from the very beginning of Mark’s gospel. Mark does not have infancy narratives like Luke and Mathew. Nor does he have a poetic prologue like John. Rather, he begins this way: “The beginning of the gospel of Jesus Christ the Son of God.” It hearkens back to the book of Genesis. God is doing something new through Jesus.
This new creation continues in our day. It is about knowing and living the Way of the Lord. It takes work and effort on our part to discern this way and to live it. The Advent season gives us renewed hope in this endeavor.
Who and what helps you to know the Way of the Lord? Who and what helps you to live the Way of the Lord?
