Every once in a while someone will say to us, “I would like to introduce someone to you.” The person introducing us has an intuitional sense that some kind of a connection might be made between the two people.
This is what is happening in the Bible readings today. John the Baptist introduces Andrew and the unnamed beloved disciple to Jesus. They stay with Jesus and a strong bond is fostered. Then Andrew introduces his brother Peter to Jesus. The elderly priest Eli helps to introduce the young Samuel to God, encouraging him to say to God, “Speak, for your servant is listening.”
Who has introduced you to Jesus and the ways of God? When are you drawn to introduce someone to Jesus and the ways of God?
