On this Sunday in the Christmas season we celebrate the feast of the Epiphany, the manifestation of Christ to all the nations. Today the gospel proclaims the delightful story of the Magi in search of Christ.
In their search, the Magi paid attention to things and people around them. They allowed themselves to be led by the guidance of the bright star in the sky. They were open to listening to people who could point out things from the Bible about Bethlehem. The Magi also paid attention to interior realities in their search for Christ — going in the direction of their desire to seek Christ and through the message in a dream not to return to Herod.
On this feast of Epiphany, reflect on these faith questions: Like the Magi, when do you feel a driving desire to find Christ? Who acts as a guiding light for you in your search for Christ? How does God use you to help others encounter Christ?
