This year we had four full weeks of Advent. This joyful season helped us to reflect on the coming of Christ Jesus into our lives. Christ came to gather all people into the peace of God’s Kingdom. Christ comes to us now in Word and in Sacrament. And Christ will come in glory to bring us the fullness of salvation.
Today and throughout the Christmas season (through January 9) we celebrate the meaning of the birth of Christ as well as the earliest manifestations of his presence. We celebrate these feasts in the context of the Eucharist. What a privilege to celebrate again and again the coming of Christ to us in his Word and in the Eucharist! Take some time during this holy season to savor the many comings of Christ. Make your own prayer of thanksgiving to God for wanting to be so close to us.
Merry Christmas! Blessings of peace and joy to you and your families.
