In today’s gospel Jesus addresses the human experience of worry and anety. For some people these emotions can become so overwhelming that they panic or seem to freeze up and are not able to make good choices in a hopeful way forward. Jesus tells us to focus on the most important thing: seek first the Kingdom of God and God’s righteousness and everything else will find its rightful place.
Each time we celebrate the Eucharist, after praying the Our Father, we hear the words, “Deliver us, Lord, from every evil, graciously grant peace in our days, that, by the help of your mercy, we may be always free from sin and safe from all distress, as we await the blessed hope and the coming of our Savior, Jesus Christ.” The Eucharist helps us to be centered peacefully and deeply in Christ.
What helps you to deal with worry and anxiety? How do you seek first the Kingdom of God?
