Prayers of the Faithful

Prayers of the Faithful for November 19 & 20, 2016

November 18, 2016 By Website Admin

Presider:

We pray with Christ, the suffering King, for the suffering people of the world.

 Lector:

For the Church: that it may be a viable witness to Christ as the suffering King, we pray:

For all who exercise authority: that they may recognize the source of their power and authority, and be good stewards of the offices which God has entrusted to them, we pray:

For healing of our nation: that God will heal the divisions exposed during the recent elections and help all to work for the common good and the progress of all people, we pray:

For the grace of forgiveness: that we may be moved to forgive all who have injured us and show concern and compassion for them, we pray:

For all who are traveling this week: that their visits with family and friends will renew them and that they may arrive safely to their destinations, we pray:

For those who are ill and have asked for our prayers including, Jessica La Salle, may God’s healing love touch them and restore them to fullness of life, we pray:

For those who have died, for all whose names have been inscribed in our Book of the Dead, and for those grieving the passing of a loved-one, we pray:

 Presider:

God of the powerless: You gave us your son to usher in a new reign of peace and justice. Jesus has shown us that this Kingdom is inhabited by those whose only power is love. We pray for the courage to live in and strengthen this Kingdom, meant for all. We ask this through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen

Prayers of the Faithful for November 12 & 13, 2016

Presider:

Aware that signs of the end times are always with us, we pray for awareness of God’s loving presence in the here and now.

Lector:

For the Church: that we may offer hope and vision to all the human family in times of confusion and chaos, we pray:

For all who are newly elected: that God will guide them in fulfilling their duties and help them to listen and understand the issues burdening the human family, we pray:

For courage to face the future: confident that God makes all things work together, we may approach the future, with both its joy and sorrows, aware that God is always with us and desires to give us fullness of life, we pray:

For the grace of perseverance: that God will strengthen and sustain us to remain faithful in our discipleship in times of trial and distress, we pray:

For all who are experiencing an “end of their world”: For those who have become ill, lost employment, been divorced or who are grieving the death of a loved one: that they may know God’s comforting presence this day and be strengthened by God’s spirit, we pray:

For those who are ill and have asked for our prayers including, Colleen Greeley, Jessica La Salle. May God’s healing love touch them and restore them to fullness of life, we pray:

For those who mourn and for those who have died, especially Erwin Zimmer, the husband of Gail Zimmer; Ann Kiley, the sister of John Brezinka. May all who have died be forever held in the loving arms of God, we pray:

 Presider:

God who loves and protects all that is, we pray for hope and perseverance in uncertain times. Let our trust in you keep us calm, unafraid, and focused on being the face of Jesus in the world. We ask this through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Presider:

We are called to live in the light of the resurrection, and so we pray to God who faithfully hears and answers our prayers.

 Lector:

For the Church: that it may demonstrate the meaning of the resurrection, we pray:

For encouragement for those yearning for peace in the face of war, violence, and conflict, we pray:

For encouragement for those struggling to make ends meet for themselves and their families, we pray:

For those who struggle to believe in the resurrection, especially those who have lost a loved one, we pray:

For all we are called to minister to in this community and beyond, we pray:

For those who are ill and have asked for our prayers including, Doug Vetter, Jerome Munch, Colleen Greeley. May God’s healing love touch them and restore them to fullness of life, we pray:

For those who mourn and those who have died, especially LaVonne Perron, the mother of Sandra Sand; may all who have died be forever held in the loving arms of God, we pray:

Presider:

God of everlasting life: keep us hopeful in what lies beyond, while we struggle to live life fully each and every day. Help us to be people of faith and hope, who encourage those who have lost hope. We ask this through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
