Faith Formation Gatherings

MOMS Connect

What is MOMS Connect?

MOMS Connect is a group of moms that meets on the first Tuesday of each month at 7pm to discuss a variety of topics about motherhood using a faith-based curriculum. MOMS Connect is affiliated with our MOMS ministry here at Risen Savior. The mission statement of Risen Savior MOMS is: "To provide a supportive, nonjudgmental, and encouraging environment to moms as we help each other live out our call as mothers to create faith-filled families."

We meet on the first Tuesday of each month from October through May. We will gather in Resurrection Hall at 7:00pm. Childcare will be provided in the church nursery.

New membership fee is $20.00. This covers the cost of books and other materials. (Scholarships are available upon request.)

Our Mission: To provide a supportive, nonjudgmental, and encouraging environment to moms as we help each other live out our call to create faith-filled families.

Centering Prayer Groups

Centering Prayer Groups

Wednesday Morning Communal Centering Prayer

Every Wednesday from 9:30-10:00 a.m. in the Chapel

All are invited to join us for a communal experience of Centering Prayer, during which we sit "alone together" for a period of 20 minutes.  Those who have never experienced this form of prayer are encouraged to join us, as we will take time to explain the basics of the method before beginning, as well as answer any questions you may have.

Centering Prayer is a receptive, deep method of silent prayer that prepares us to receive the gift of contemplative prayer, prayer in which we experience God's presence within us, closer than breathing, closer than thinking, closer than consciousness itself. This method of prayer is both a relationship with God and a discipline to foster that relationship.

Registration is as simple as filling out the form at the bottom of this webpage, or you can also contact Scott Brazil.

We welcome all spiritual seekers interested in this opportunity. We are asking which communities people belong to so as to assist us in organizing centering prayer groups in the future.

Adult Faith Formation Committee

Adult Faith Formation Committee

Adult Faith Formation Committee 2018-19

Mission Statement:

The Risen Savior Adult Faith Formation Committee, guided by the Holy Spirit and the Risen Savior Mission Statement, provides a vibrant, nourishing, spiritual environment where all adults in our diverse parish community can grow in faith, make the Gospel a relevant and shared part of their daily lives, and participate as modern day disciples of Jesus in all areas of life.

Goals:

To invite and welcome all adults to encounter Jesus in the fullness of our Catholic faith.

To foster Gospel values in our parish so that our faith will have an impact on every family, as it is considered the “domestic church,” and in our community in general.

To nourish and enrich our adults to continue their faith and spiritual formation, and to live their faith through prayer, study, and action.

To encourage and develop enthusiasm for personal faith among our adult parishioners so that they may desire to share it in their families and with others.

New members are welcome!  To learn more, lease contact Scott Brazil or fill out the form at the bottom of this page.

Got Questions?  Try Alpha!

Alpha is a series of sessions that helps participants explore the Christian faith.  Each session looks at a different question around faith from a Catholic context and is designed to create conversation.  A typical gathering will include gathering for a simple meal, viewing an engaging and thought-provoking video, and small group discussion time to reflect and process how the day’s question pertains to your spiritual journey.

What type of commitment must I make?

We invite everyone to participate in any or all of our first three sessions on September 17th, September 24th, and October 1st.  If you find that Alpha is not for you, you are not obligated to participate in the future.  But we are certain you will find something good in our session and will WANT to come back the next week, the week after that, etc.

How much does it cost to participate?

This program is free of charge!  Participants will be offered the opportunity to make free will donations and/or bring food to share to help offset costs, but there is no requirment nor expectation that participants make any financial contribution.

What does a typical session look like?  What topics will we be discussing?

Click here to download the sample session guide, which includes a listing of topics for all of the sessions.

Is this a "Catholic" program?

Alpha USA is a nondenominational outreach program that allows for adaptation into a Catholic faith community.  Click here to download an explanation of how we are encouraged to apply the program to a Catholic Context.   In addition, the USCCB has named the Alpha program as one of the Best Evangelization Methods and Resources Available for Parish Outreach Efforts.  Many parishes throughout the country use this program.  Click here to read why one pastor chooses to incorporate this program at his parish.

Fill out the online form below to R.S.V.P. for the September 17th event.
