Prayers of the Faithful for May 26 & 27, 2018

Presider:  

In confidence we pray for our needs to the Triune God who chooses to share divine life with us.

Lector:

For unity in the Church: that we may recognize our call to be children of God, be united in communion through the Holy Spirit and encourage one another as we follow God's call in our lives, we pray:

For unity in our world: that God will open new pathways for dialogue so that all may live in peace, we pray:

For unity in our community: that we may appreciate the wonder of each person and work together to address the needs and longings of all who enter our lives, we pray:

For unity in our families: that the love which is the Trinity may strengthen and renew each of us and deepen our love for one another, we pray:

For unity with God in each of our hearts: for openness to God’s love; that we may allow God to bring us into the life of the Trinity and to deepen a relationship with us, we pray:

On this Memorial Day, let us pray for those who lost their lives in war, for those in danger today, and for families and friends who care about them, we pray:

For those who are ill and have asked for our prayers including Barb Kachnowicz and Billie Rivers. May they find comfort in the healing touch of God and by the loving care of family and friends, we pray:

For all who mourn the death of a loved one especially Delia Roehl, the sister of Fr. Gene Pouliot and  Koo Vang. May all who have died be forever held in the loving arms of God, we pray:

 

Presider:

Gracious God, pour the Spirit of love into our hearts that we may be united to Christ and to each other in the bond of peace. We ask this through Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen


Prayers of the Faithful for May 19 & 20, 2018

Presider:

On the Feast of Pentecost, let us pray that the fires of the Spirit’s love will rest upon us.

 

Reader:

For a Spirit of unity: that the divisions between Christians may cease and the walls that divide believers may fall, allowing us to pray and grow together as members of God's family, we pray: 

For a Spirit of mercy: that we may reach out to all who burdened by illness, poverty, disasters or violence and show the face of God to them through our compassion and attention, we pray: 

For a Spirit of love: that we may place our time, energy, and gifts at the service of others, helping them to carry their burdens and discover God’s love for them, we pray: 

For a Spirit of forgiveness: that the Spirit of Christ will enable us to forgive all who have injured us and guide us in reconciling our broken relationships, we pray: 

For a Spirit of peace: that God will hold those who have died or were injured in the Texas school shooting and that we may find ways to keep our schools safe and free of violence, we pray: sung response

For the Spirit of healing: that God will touch all who are burdened with illness, including, Thomas Diger and Barb Kachnowicz. Renew and restore their lives, and raise them up to wholeness, we pray: 

For the Spirit of life: that God will be merciful and give eternal life to all who have died especially, Dan Steger, the brother of Carla Cable and Theresa Bergwall; Carol Sirko, the mother of Kate Steiner; we pray: 

  

Presider: Loving God, fill us with your spirit as you fill us with your life. Give us breath to praise you to the ends of the earth. We pray this through Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives, and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, forever and ever. Amen.

 


Prayers of the Faithful for May 12 & 13, 2018

Presider:

As we reflect on our responsibility to assume the work of the disciples, we pray for ourselves, for our neighbors and for the whole world.

 

Reader:

For the church as it struggles to communicate the Gospel to each generation and every culture, we pray:

For an end to terrorism and for peace throughout the world. For the very real possibility of long sought peace on the Korean Peninsula, we pray:

For all who are struggling with doubt: that they may recognize God’s presence and action in their lives and in the world around them, we pray:

For the courage to listen to the needs of the unchurched and for the creativity to imagine new ways to communicate with them, we pray:

For all Mothers and for those who have shown us a mother’s love: that God will bless them with health, happiness, and peace of heart, we pray:

For all who are ill, may they be comforted by our God who heals us in body, mind, and spirit, including: Thaddeus Myslinski, Thomas Diger, Barb Kachnowicz, we pray:

For all who mourn the death of a loved one. May all who have died be forever held in the loving arms of God, we pray:

 

 Presider:

Gracious God, you sent your Son among us to show us the way to you. Grant us all that we need to continue to work in his name, so that all creatures may be one in you. We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen.

 


Prayers of the Faithful for May 5 & 6, 2018

Presider:

In response to the great commandment to love one another, let us pray for those near and dear to us and for those we do not know throughout the world.

 

Lector:

For the church: that it may be a sign of love above all else, we pray:

For the world’s leaders: that they may find ways to eliminate barriers to peace and justice, we pray:

For the courage to lay down our lives for one another: that we may allow God to cleanse us of pride and strengthen us to love fully, we pray:

For all those whom we find it difficult to love: that God will touch our hearts to recognize them as sisters and brothers who, like us, are loved by God, we pray:

For the children receiving Eucharistic for the first time this week, may they receive love and support from our community to nourish their faith, we pray:

For those who are ill and have asked for our prayers, including Thaddeus Myslinski and Thomas Diger. May all who suffer be comforted by our love and concern and by God’s healing touch, we pray:

For all who mourn the death of a loved one; may all who have died be forever held in the loving arms of God, we pray:

 

 Presider:

God of love, you sent Jesus to demonstrate to us the simplest, but most difficult, of all commandments. Strengthen in us the power to love one another. Make us aware of the barriers we create to separate us from each other. Help us to remember that above all, you love us. We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen

 


Prayers of the Faithful for April 28 & 29, 2018

Presider:

May we who are branches on the vine of Christ raise our voices in prayer for our beloved families, friends and neighbors and for all people across the world.

 

Lector:

For the church and for all Christians, that we may remember that we are all branches of the true vine, we pray:

For peace: that God will guide and give wisdom to all who are working to end warfare or defuse tension between nations or cultures, we pray:

For all who are experiencing pruning through loss, transition, or change: that God will give them strength, guide them, and help them find courage, support, and hope through fellow believers, we pray:

For the children of our community who are celebrating First Eucharist this week, may they come to be part of the vine that bears good fruit, and may we as a community continue to nourish their faith, we pray:

For those who are ill and have asked for our prayers, including Todd Teiken, Marna Keenan, and Thaddeus Myslinski. May all who suffer be comforted by our love and concern and by God’s healing touch, we pray:

For all who mourn the death of a loved one; may all who have died be forever held in the loving arms of God, we pray:

 

Presider:

 

Gracious God, you are the vine grower who has given us your Son to bind us to him and to one another. Help us to remember that we are not alone, and empower us to bear good fruit. We ask these things in the name of Jesus, the true vine. Amen.


Prayers of the Faithful for April 21 & 22, 2018

Presider:

Listening to Jesus’ voice and with hearts filled with confidence, we now make our needs known to our loving God.

 

Reader:

That all leaders of the church may truly hear the voice of the Good Shepherd and faithfully lead others to abundant life, we pray:

That all leaders of nations may use their voices to lead the world to lasting justice and peace, we pray:

That we, who have been called by name, may hear the voice of the Good Shepherd and respond confidently to God’s invitations, we pray:

That we may trust and rely upon Christ who is our safety to guide and protect us through all the challenges of life, we pray:

That God will give new vision and promote peace in the hearts of all who are enemies so they can find a place where there is common ground to begin a dialogue, we pray:

That those who are ill, may feel Jesus’ healing touch in the loving hands of their caregivers, including, Todd Teiken, we pray:

That those who have died, may be welcomed into the fullness of life by the Good Shepherd we pray:

 

Presider:

Loving and caring God, you sent your only Son to be our Good Shepherd. Hear our prayers that we might always heed his voice and follow him to everlasting life. We ask this in the name of Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen.


Prayers of the Faithful for April 14 & 15, 2018

Presider:

Knowing that Jesus still stands among us, we lay before him our prayers for ourselves, for others and for the world.

 

Reader:

 For the church: may its faith be ever fresh and open to new understanding, we pray:

For peace where there is no peace, especially where violence is propelled by religion, we pray:

For those whose lives are devoted to protecting others and keeping the peace: for the military and all first responders, for negotiators, diplomats, and policy-makers, we pray:

For all who are broken and wounded: that they may find healing in Christ and that God will help us recognize them as our brothers and sisters through the wounded Christ, we pray:

For the courage to press forward in our own lifelong faith journeys, we pray:

 For those who are ill, including Todd Teiken. May they feel Jesus’ healing touch, we pray:

For all who mourn the death of a loved one, especially Elvi Pilon. May they find comfort in the joy of Jesus’ resurrection, we pray:

 

Presider:

God of our ancestors, you have given us Jesus as your great final gift, to lead us, guide us and bring us peace. We ask you to strengthen our faith and give us the courage to keep his commandments. Keep us aware of his presence among us, we pray in his name. Amen.

 


Prayers of the Faithful for April 7 & 8, 2018

Presider:

We have not seen but still believe. With confident faith, we bring our concerns before God.

 

Reader: 

That unbelievers find in the church a living sign of Christ’s love, we pray:

That the Holy Spirit will inspire leaders of nations, and guide their efforts to find peaceful and lasting resolutions to the challenges of today, we pray:

That the witness of the scriptures will lead all who are questioning their faith to new and deeper understanding of God’s presence and action in their lives, we pray:

That God will heal our wounds of body, mind, and spirit, and enable us to become instruments of healing and hope for others who are wounded today, we pray:

That as parishioners of Risen Savior, we may see ways to share our time, energy, and resources to relieve the suffering and burdens of others, we pray:

That those who are ill feel Jesus’ healing touch in the loving hands of their caregivers, including,  Bud Woeste, we pray:

That all who mourn the death of a loved one find comfort in the joy of Jesus’ resurrection, especially, Florence Smid, the mother of Ruth Schilmoeller; we pray:

 

Presider:

Generous God, plant your precious gift of faith ever deeper in our hearts. All that we ask, we ask in the name of Jesus, our Risen Lord.
