Prayers of the Faithful for May 18 & 19, 2019

Presider:

Jesus commands us to love as he has been loved. Let us pray to be faithful to this command.

Lector:

That God will guide the church in examining how we have failed one another and lead us to new steps of living and speaking the truth, we pray:

That God will free us from old attachments and help us follow the movement of the Spirit into new relationships and new forms of service to better serve God today, we pray:

That those who strive to manifest a New Heavens and a New Earth, particularly those who fight poverty, hunger, homelessness or who work to assist the elderly and the homebound: will reflect God’s light and love through their service and be a sign of hope to all, we pray:

That God will guide us in deepening our relationships, encouraging one another along life’s journey, and caring for one another as we face hardships, we pray:

That each of us grow in faithful discipleship by encountering more fully the risen Christ in our daily living, we pray:

That those who are ill and have asked for our prayers, including Andrew Joseph Ebert, Susan Swanton, Mary Jane Franzen, may feel Christ’s healing touch, we pray:

That all who mourn the death of a loved one, especially, George Ocel, the brother of Sam Ocel; may find comfort in the joy of Jesus’ resurrection, we pray:

Presider:

Loving God, you always hear our prayers and grant our needs. Help us to take up your son’s command to love so that our world might reflect more fully your glory. We ask this through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Presider:

Let us pray now for ourselves and for all who are in need of shepherding.

Lector:

For the Church, that we may hear the voice of Christ and follow Jesus to fuller life and loving service, we pray:

For those who are perishing through sickness, depression, or hopelessness, may they be strengthened by the care and nearness of the Good Shepherd, we pray:

For the grace of discernment, that we may recognize the voice of the Lord in our lives and distinguish it from the many other sounds which demand our time and attention, we pray:

For the children receiving First Communion this week: that they may grow in their faith and their awareness of God’s love for them, we pray:

For all Mothers and for those who have shown us a mother’s love: that God will bless them with health, happiness, and peace of heart, we pray:

For those who are ill and have asked for our prayers, including Susan Swanton, and Mary Jane Franzen. May they feel the Good Shepherd’s healing touch, we pray:

For all who mourn the death of a loved one, may they find comfort in the joy of Jesus’ resurrection, we pray:

For our families: that mealtimes spent together may be times of nourishment, healing, reconciliation, and encouragement of one another, we pray:

For a spirit of openness and acceptance: that we may welcome the stranger and immigrant into our communities, and help them to build a new life, we pray:

For those who are ill and have asked us to pray for them including: Susan Swanton, Donna Chur,  Andy LaMott, Tom Diger, and Andrew Joseph Ebert. For comfort and healing for all who are ill, we pray:
