We who are called to follow Jesus pray now for ourselves, for one another and for the world.

For the church, that it may be a faithful servant of Christ, we pray:

For an end to conflict and strife between individuals, within families and communities, we pray:

For our sisters and brothers in Gris-Gris, may God bless them and Fr. Fayant as he continues his ministry at St. Rose of Lima, we pray:

For all who serve the poor and marginalized: that God will strengthen them as they show love and compassion and that they may find Christ in all whom they serve, we pray:

For openness to God’s Word: that all gathered here will open their hearts to understand God’s calling each day, we pray:

For those who are ill and have asked for our prayers. May all who suffer be healed by God’s loving touch and by the prayers of this community, we pray:

For those who have died, may they experience the peace and joy of God’s kingdom, we pray:

Presider:

God who sustains us, we look to you when truth overwhelms us and our courage wavers. Help us to follow in the footsteps of Jesus, especially when they take us where we do not want to go. We pray in the name of Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen

Presider:

We who profess to follow Jesus rely on prayer to strengthen us. And so we pray now for ourselves, for one another and for the whole world.

Lector:

For the courage, as baptized Christians, to follow where Jesus leads us, we pray:

For Pope Francis and all leaders in the Church: that God will give them wisdom in addressing the wounds in the Church and guide them in renewing and restoring the community of faith, we pray:

For those whose cross of suffering seems unbearable, may they be strengthened by the support and care of this community and God’s grace, we pray:

For the Christian faithful and all people of goodwill, that we might find the compassion to walk in solidarity with immigrants and refugees, and the courage to advocate on their behalf, we pray:

For those affected by Hurricane Florence, may they be comforted by God’s love and be blessed with the strength to endure, and for aid workers providing support and relief to those suffering from the storm’s destruction, we pray:

For those who are ill and have asked for our prayers, including Mary Thul and Herman Joseph Brass. May all who suffer be healed by God’s loving touch and by the prayers of this community, we pray:

For those who have died, especially, Andrea Saldana de Rivera, the grandmother of Andrea Rodriguez. May they experience the peace and joy of God’s kingdom, we pray:

Prayers of the Faithful for September 1 & 2, 2018

Presider:

Let us, out of a spirit of love, pray now for our own needs and for the needs of others.

Lector:

For the Church: that we may experience ever deeper conversion of mind and heart as we allow God’s Word to instruct and free us, we pray:

For consolation and healing for all who have been harmed by sexual violence or exploitation in the Church, that their cries will be heard and their pain assuaged by the love of Christ in his people, we pray:

For conversion from our hypocrisies: that we may recognize where we say one thing and live by another so that we may come to greater integrity and wholeness, we pray:

For all who labor so that others may have the necessities of life, food on their tables, and live in safety: that God will renew their energy and help them to use their gifts and talents fully, we pray:

For all who are beginning a new academic year: that students and teachers may learn together as they grow in wisdom and love, we pray:

For those who are ill and have asked for our prayers, including Jeanne Perna. May God strengthen them, renew them, and fill them with healing, we pray:

For those who have died, may they experience the peace and joy of God’s kingdom, we pray:

 Presider:

God of compassion, we ask for the gift of discernment, that we may be able to distinguish between the letter and the spirit of the law. Make us aware of the needs of others in all that we do. We ask this in the name of Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen.
