Prayers of the Faithful for April 21 & 22, 2018

Listening to Jesus’ voice and with hearts filled with confidence, we now make our needs known to our loving God.

That all leaders of the church may truly hear the voice of the Good Shepherd and faithfully lead others to abundant life, we pray:

That all leaders of nations may use their voices to lead the world to lasting justice and peace, we pray:

That we, who have been called by name, may hear the voice of the Good Shepherd and respond confidently to God’s invitations, we pray:

That we may trust and rely upon Christ who is our safety to guide and protect us through all the challenges of life, we pray:

That God will give new vision and promote peace in the hearts of all who are enemies so they can find a place where there is common ground to begin a dialogue, we pray:

That those who are ill, may feel Jesus’ healing touch in the loving hands of their caregivers, including, Todd Teiken, we pray:

That those who have died, may be welcomed into the fullness of life by the Good Shepherd we pray:

Loving and caring God, you sent your only Son to be our Good Shepherd. Hear our prayers that we might always heed his voice and follow him to everlasting life. We ask this in the name of Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen.

Prayers of the Faithful for April 14 & 15, 2018

Knowing that Jesus still stands among us, we lay before him our prayers for ourselves, for others and for the world.

For the church: may its faith be ever fresh and open to new understanding, we pray:

For peace where there is no peace, especially where violence is propelled by religion, we pray:

For those whose lives are devoted to protecting others and keeping the peace: for the military and all first responders, for negotiators, diplomats, and policy-makers, we pray:

For all who are broken and wounded: that they may find healing in Christ and that God will help us recognize them as our brothers and sisters through the wounded Christ, we pray:

For the courage to press forward in our own lifelong faith journeys, we pray:

For those who are ill, including Todd Teiken. May they feel Jesus’ healing touch, we pray:

For all who mourn the death of a loved one, especially Elvi Pilon. May they find comfort in the joy of Jesus’ resurrection, we pray:

God of our ancestors, you have given us Jesus as your great final gift, to lead us, guide us and bring us peace. We ask you to strengthen our faith and give us the courage to keep his commandments. Keep us aware of his presence among us, we pray in his name. Amen.

Prayers of the Faithful for April 7 & 8, 2018

We have not seen but still believe. With confident faith, we bring our concerns before God.

That unbelievers find in the church a living sign of Christ’s love, we pray:

That the Holy Spirit will inspire leaders of nations, and guide their efforts to find peaceful and lasting resolutions to the challenges of today, we pray:

That the witness of the scriptures will lead all who are questioning their faith to new and deeper understanding of God’s presence and action in their lives, we pray:

That God will heal our wounds of body, mind, and spirit, and enable us to become instruments of healing and hope for others who are wounded today, we pray:

That as parishioners of Risen Savior, we may see ways to share our time, energy, and resources to relieve the suffering and burdens of others, we pray:

That those who are ill feel Jesus’ healing touch in the loving hands of their caregivers, including,  Bud Woeste, we pray:

That all who mourn the death of a loved one find comfort in the joy of Jesus’ resurrection, especially, Florence Smid, the mother of Ruth Schilmoeller; we pray:

Generous God, plant your precious gift of faith ever deeper in our hearts. All that we ask, we ask in the name of Jesus, our Risen Lord.

Prayers of the Faithful for April 1, 2018

On this most holy day, we are made a new creation in the image of the Risen Christ. Let us pray that the joy and hope of Easter may be shared by all the earth.

That the church proclaim the good news of the resurrection throughout all lands, we pray:

That world leaders tirelessly work for peace and justice to help bring an end to terror and violence in the world, we pray:

That we work to protect all life, from beginning to end, we pray:

That the newly baptized and those newly received into the Church continue their lifelong journey into the paschal mystery, we pray:

That we become missionary disciples and carry Christ’s message of love and hope to others through our parish ministries and in our daily lives, we pray:

That those who are ill and have asked for our prayers, find healing, including: Bud Woeste, we pray:

That all who mourn the death of a loved one find comfort in the joy of Jesus’ resurrection, especially Raymond Hanson, the husband of Jean Hanson; we pray:

Glorious God, you raised up your Son from the dead. Raise us up and hear our prayer that we may praise your glory today and always. We pray though Jesus Christ our Lord. AMEN.

Prayers of the Faithful for March 24 & 25, 2018

My brothers and sisters in Christ, as we enter this Holy Week, let us pray for our world and ourselves, asking God for what we need to make a holy difference.

For a holy week of peace in those places where there is violence, we pray:

For a holy week of unity among all Christians, we pray:

For a holy week for those without homes, without jobs, without a means to provide for their loved ones, we pray:

For those who will receive the sacraments of initiation at Easter and be received into the church, and for this community as we enter these holy days together, we pray:

For a holy week for those who are ill and have asked for our prayers especially Ray Hanson. May all who suffer be encouraged by Jesus, who conquered suffering and death, we pray:

For those who have died, for those who are dying, and for those who are grieving the passing of a loved one, we pray:

Prayers of the Faithful for March 17 & 18, 2018

We pray now for the needs of the world and for all who are called to walk the path of Jesus.

For the Church: that God’s covenant, which is written upon our hearts, may help us know the Lord more deeply and guide us in serving God each day, we pray:

For the grace of surrender to God: that we may let go of control, lose our lives to God, and allow God to raise new life within us, we pray:

For the grace to be women and men for others: that God will guide us in laying down our lives in loving service and sharing our gifts to help others along life’s journey, we pray:

For openness to forgiveness: that we may believe in God’s desire to forgive us and accept it as gift from God who remembers our sin no more, we pray:

For healing and freedom: that as the Body and Blood of Christ are lifted up in the Eucharist, we may be drawn to Christ, the source of life, we pray:

For the sick and suffering in our community, including Ray Hanson. For all who suffer, we pray:

For those who have died, especially Betty Nicholson.  And for all who mourn their passing, we pray:

God of life, source of love, accept the offering of our prayers. Bless us always with the hope of the grain of wheat, so that we may seek to die to ourselves for the sake of others, and one day rise to the new life of the eternal springtime of your Son. We ask this through our Lord, Jesus Christ. Amen.

Prayers of the Faithful for March 10 & 11, 2018

We are called by God’s love to live in the light of Christ. Let us pray that we and others might remember and live as we have been called.

For the Church: that we will grow in our awareness of the length, breadth, and depth of God’s love for us, we pray:

For a greater realization of God’s goodness: that we may recognize everything as a gift and open our hearts to the many gifts God wants to give us, we pray:

For all who serve the greater good whether in the military, in diplomacy, or in humanitarian relief: that God will guide and protect them and bring them home safely, we pray:

For all whose lives are darkened by addiction; that the light of the Gospel may open a new path before them, we pray:

For all who seek to grow in their faith, for those in RCIA, and all in religious education programs: that they may come to know Christ more each day and express their faith through deeds of light, we pray:

For the sick and suffering in our community, including: Florence Larsgaard. For all who suffer, we pray:

For those who have died and for grieving families, especially John Hoffman, the  son of Joanne Hoffman; Robert Lager, the father of Mark Lager; Cecilia Asleson, the sister of Sam Ocel; Consor Holgado, the mother of Angelica Vang; Debbie Adams, the wife of Alan Adams. May they find comfort in God’s love, we pray:

Loving God, help us to live in Christ’s light. May we reflect his endless love and mercy toward all those who cross our paths.  Amen.
