Prayers of the Faithful for November 17 & 18, 2018

Presider:

Let us pray for ourselves, our neighbors and all those who are looking for God’s presence in the world.

Lector:

For the church: that it may be open to new signs of God’s presence among us, we pray:

For the grace of discernment: that we may understand the signs of the times and recognize God’s presence, action and invitation each day, we pray:

For the gift of hope: that no matter what challenges we face, we may remain confident that with God all things are possible, we pray:

For those who are looking for life’s most basic needs as a sign of God’s presence, we pray:

For the thousands of people affected by the devastating fires in California, may God’s grace strengthen and sustain them as they work to rebuild their lives and communities, we pray:

For those who are looking for healing for themselves or others as a sign of God’s presence, including, Jacob LaMott. May all who suffer be healed by God’s loving touch and by the prayers of this community, we pray:

For those who have died, and for those who mourn the death of a loved one. May they be comforted by God’s unending love, we pray:

Presider:

God of promise, keep us alert to the signs of your presence in our midst. Help us to be hopeful and patient, especially in times of discouragement or chaos. Let us be signs for others who also wait. We pray in the name of Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen.

Prayers of the Faithful for November 10 & 11, 2018

Presider:

Knowing that we need God’s help to be true disciples, let us pray for strength and make our needs known.

Lector:

For all members of the church, that we generously give of ourselves to God and others wholeheartedly, we pray:

For newly elected leaders, may they serve those they govern with integrity and authentic self-giving, we pray:

For the current mission trip to our sister parish in Haiti, may those who have traveled to Gri-Gris fruitfully give of their time and talent in service to those in need, we pray:

For the victims of the shooting in Thousand Oaks, California this week, may they find healing and peace through God’s loving care, we pray:

As we commemorate the 100th anniversary of Veteran’s Day, let us remember those who have died in the service of our country and may we continue to support those veterans who need assistance with healthcare and employment, we pray:

For those who are ill and have asked for our prayers, including, Jacob LaMott. May all who suffer be healed by God’s loving touch and by the prayers of this community, we pray:

For those who have died, especially, Edida Sano, and for those who mourn the death of a loved one. May they be comforted by God’s unending love, we pray:

Presider:

Just and compassionate God, you show us that living authentically and generously is more important than achieving places of honor. Help us to give from the depths of our hearts and from our treasure. We ask this through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen

Prayers of the Faithful for October 6 & 7, 2018

Presider:

From the moment of creation we were called to union with God and each other. Let us pray that our relationships be faithful and strong.

Lector:

For the church, that it may provide strong, compassionate support for those who are married and for those seeking marriage, we pray:

For government leaders and legislators, that their policies support and strengthen families, we pray:

In this month, set aside for respect of all life, for commitment among us to protect the unborn, to welcome the immigrant, to accompany the prisoner, to feed the hungry, to educate the needy, we pray:

For those who are separated or divorced, or whose marriages are troubled; may we offer Christian love and support to them, we pray:

For all of us gathered here, may we grow stronger in our relationships with each other and witness to the presence of the kingdom of God, we pray:

For those who are ill and have asked for our prayers, including Bob Zwaschka, Lewis Barbe, Gene Hoy. May all who suffer be healed by God’s loving touch and by the prayers of this community, we pray:

For those who have died, especially, Swany Swanson, the husband of Josey Swanson, may they experience the peace and joy of God’s kingdom, we pray:

Presider:

God of all creation, we pray that you will strengthen us as we strive to sustain the many relationships in our lives.  Empower us to help one another and to be open to one another’s unique circumstances and struggles.  We ask this in the name Jesus Christ, our Lord.  Amen.
