Prayers of the Faithful for December 9 & 10, 2017

Presider:  

We pray for and await God’s loving presence to all who are in need of comfort.

 

Lector:

For the Church: that we may herald the good news of God’s love by our deeds of service and our fellowship with all whom God leads into our lives, we pray:

For a renewal of the Holy Spirit in our hearts: that God will renew the gift of the Spirit within us and help us to be active and dynamic disciples, we pray:

For all who must wait: that God will transform us through reflective listening, deeds of compassionate service and inspired conversations, we pray:

For all who are dissatisfied with life: that they may recognize the gift of each day and have their eyes opened to all the blessings that are present before them, we pray:

For Christians during this Advent season: that we turn from the wastelands of violence, opulence and greed, and dedicate ourselves to promoting honest and loving relationships, we pray:

For those who are ill and have asked for our prayers, including, Jim Juaire, Sharon Jirik, Sarah Casper. May they and all who suffer be comforted by your healing touch and by the prayers of friends and family, we pray:

For those who have died, especially, Irene Tveidt, the wife of Dave Tveidt. Comfort those who mourn the passing of a loved-one, we pray:

  

Presider:

Hear our prayers O God. May our glory be revealed in our work to bring these prayers for mercy, justice, and peace a reality in our own deserts and cities. We ask this through our Lord, Jesus Christ. Amen.

 


Prayers of the Faithful for December 2 & 3, 2017

Presider:  

Let us pray that this holy season will make us alert to Christ’s coming through the needs and concerns of all people.

 

Lector:

For the church: that we may be a focused and watchful people during this Advent season, we pray,

For all Christians: that we may put on the mind and heart of Christ and be a source of light and hope for all, we pray:

For those who are working for peace: that God will guide and inspire their work and open new doors for peace and cooperation, we pray:

For alertness: that the Spirit will shake us from complacency and help us to actively search for God in our lives each day, we pray:

For all who await God's blessings, particularly for those who are expecting a child, for those who are separated from family or homeland, for members of the military awaiting to return home, and for those who are facing death: that God’s comforting and strengthening love will sustain them, we pray:

For those who are ill and have asked for our prayers, including, Jean Volkov. May they and all who suffer be comforted by your healing touch and by the prayers of friends and family, we pray:

For those who have died, comfort those who mourn the passing of a loved-one, we pray:

 

 Presider:

God who is ever present, grant us the ability to see the face of Jesus wherever he appears among us, and help us to live in awareness this Advent season. We ask this through our Lord, Jesus Christ. Amen.


Prayers of the Faithful for November 25 & 26, 2017

Presider:  

With confidence we make our needs known to God through the intercessions of Christ the King.

 

Lector: 

For the Church: that we may recognize Christ in one another and honor the dignity of each person whom God has called to life, we pray:

For world leaders: that their hearts may comprehend the depth of human suffering that exists and strive more urgently to find peaceful solutions to all conflicts, we pray:

For the grace to live in the Spirit of Jesus: that we may be willing to take the first step in helping others without expectation of their response or of a return for ourselves, we pray:

For Christians in Iraq and Syria, that they may be granted courage, hope, and perseverance as they bear heroic witness to their faith in this time of persecution, we pray:

For peace and safety in our neighborhoods: that God will lead us to new understanding of the gifts and wounds of one another and help us to cooperate in bringing forth a new way of living, we pray:

For those who are ill and have asked for our prayers including, Jean Volkov. May they find comfort in the healing touch of God and by the loving care of family and friends, we pray:

For those who have died, may they be forever held in the loving arms of God, we pray:

 

Presider:  

God, our protector and judge, we thank you for sending your Son to show us who you are and who we are called to be. Give us strength and courage to care for the least among us. Make us worthy to stand among those called to live in eternal life. We ask this in the name of our Lord, Jesus Christ, the King of the Universe. Amen.


Prayers of the Faithful for November 18 & 19, 2017

Presider:  

We now make our needs known to God who has entrusted to us the saving work of Jesus.

 

Lector: 

That all members of the church be aware of the gifts of faith, time and opportunity that God has entrusted to us, we pray:

That God will inspire us with new visions of how to use our gifts and meet the greatest needs of the world around us, we pray:

That God will free us from fear and help us to live life to the fullest, we pray:

That those who lack the basic necessities of life receive what they need from those who have been given an abundance, we pray:

That those traveling this week for the Thanksgiving holiday have safe journeys, and are renewed by spending time with family and friends, we pray:

That those who are ill and have asked for our prayers including: Debbie Adams and  James Jarrard. May they find comfort in the healing touch of God and by the loving care of family and friends, we pray:

That those who have died, especially Richard Sexton the husband of Joan Carroll, be forever held in the loving arms of God, and for all whose names have been inscribed in our Book of the Dead, and for those grieving the passing of a loved-one, we pray:

 

Presider:  

Generous God, you are the giver of all that we have. Give us the vision, courage, and strength to use our gifts to benefit others. We ask this in the name of our Lord, Jesus Christ. Amen.


Prayers of the Faithful for November 11 & 12, 2017

Presider:     

Let us pray for wisdom and vision as we look to what lies ahead.

 

Lector: 

For the Church: that we may have a spirit of readiness so that we can respond to God’s presence and invitations at any moment, we pray:

For the grace to live in the here and now: that we may not be consumed by the endless things that need to be done tomorrow, nor trapped by the events of yesterday and forget the gift of today, we pray:

For all who have experienced violence, especially those in Sutherland Springs, Texas: that God will be a sustaining presence for them and heal their pain, we pray:

For the poor, the refugees and the malnourished: that God will open supplies for them and open our hearts to the needs of all our suffering sisters and brothers, we pray:

On this Veteran’s Day we pray for all those who have protected our nation, for the men and women in uniform: may they enjoy rest and be blest with health and peace, we pray:

For those who are ill and have asked for our prayers including: Debbie Adams, James Jarrard.  May they find comfort in the healing touch of God and by the loving care of family and friends, we pray:

For those who have died, may God lead them into eternal light and peace, we pray:

 

Presider:  

God of the past, present and future, we ask you to help us look with courage at what lies ahead. Give us the wisdom to live each day as if it were our last. Grant us courage to trust in what is yet to come. We ask this in the name of our Lord, Jesus Christ. Amen.
