Prayers of the Faithful for September 12 & 13, 2015
We who profess to follow Jesus rely on prayer to strengthen us. And so we pray now for ourselves, for one another and for the whole world.
For the courage, as baptized Christians, to follow where Jesus leads us, we pray:
For world leaders, may their expectations be rooted in the just needs of their people, we pray:
For all who suffer for the sake of the Gospel, particularly the Christians of Syria and Iraq: that God will give them strength, help them to be faithful witnesses, and fill their hearts with peace, we pray:
For those whose cross of suffering seems unbearable, may they be strengthened by the support and care of this community and God’s grace, we pray:
For living and dynamic faith: that the Spirit will strengthen us to confront evil, show compassion for the wounded, work for peace and justice, and manifest God’s reign among us, we pray:
For those who are ill and have asked for our prayers, including Patrice Klayum, Wanda Rabe , Nate Woodford, Robert Reid, Arline Swecker, Wanda Toohey. May all who suffer be healed by God’s loving touch and by the prayers of this community, we pray:
For those who have died, especially, Madelon Byrne; Fred Traffas, the father of Mark Traffas. May they experience the peace and joy of God’s kingdom, we pray:
Loving God, you sent your son to be “the Christ” and our Savior: hear our prayers, be with us always as we follow him faithfully, and lead us to eternal life. We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen.
