Prayers of the Faithful for August 17 & 18, 2019
Aware that living the Gospel can be a dangerous thing, we pray for our fellow Christians, as well as for all people loved by God.
For the church: that it may be an ongoing support for persecuted and challenged Christians, we pray:
For Christians living in danger throughout the world, especially where persecutions are rampant, we pray:
For families torn apart by religious belief or commitment, we pray:
For young people who are learning what it means to follow Christ, we pray:
For all who serve in dangerous settings, for police, firefighters, and members of the military: that God will protect them from harm and lead them home safely, we pray:
For all who are in need, the homeless, the sick, those with addictions or mental illness: that God will sustain them and lead them to wholeness, we pray:
For those who are ill and have asked for our prayers including, Gerry Leonard and Cheri Henderson. May they find comfort in God’s love and from the care of their family and friends, we pray:
We remember those who have died with faith in the resurrection; especially Andrea Jacovitch the daughter of Mike and Barb Jacovitch; Mauris de Silva, the son of Denzil and Joanie de Silva; and for those who are struggling with grief for the passing of a loved-one, we pray:
God our protector, stand with us as we commit to living as faithful followers of your Son, Jesus. Help us to love and respect those who do not understand or value our choices, and strengthen us when we waver. We ask this through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
