Out of the Light: Creating Sacred Space for Self and Others

August 17, 2020 By Grace Koleczek

Do you long for silent reflection and discernment on social action? Out of the Light is a NEW series that is part of the newly revised JustFaith Engaging Spirituality program. It’s for those searching for an undivided and connected life. It is an invitation to proactively living spaciously and gracefully, while connecting with ourselves and others – especially those on the margins. It guides groups in developing spiritual practices (from the contemplative tradition) to ground their work of outreach and justice.

SCHEDULE: The series will meet virtually on Zoom for seven Thursdays beginning October 8th from 6-8:30p.m. All participants will also participate in two Saturday morning “Days of Reflection” (October 3 and December 5).

Cost to participate is $45, which includes the cost of the program materials (Embracing the World: Praying for Justice and Peace; Engaging Spirituality Prayer Journal; and Jesus Today: a Spirituality of Radical Freedom).

Registration for this program closed Wednesday, September 30th.

Contact Grace Koleczek, Adult Faith Formation & Social Justice Coordinator, with questions at grace.koleczek@risensavior.org or 952-698-1724.

Fall Study: Prophetic Imagination, Witness, and Hope

August 8, 2020 By Grace Koleczek

Often written off as doomsday fortune-tellers, the biblical prophets actually have much relevance for communities and individuals of faith today!  What did Amos’ vision of a “basket of end-of-summer fruit” mean (8:1)? Why did Hosea talk publicly about his marriage problems? How is Micah’s oft-quoted line, “You have been told what is good, and what the Lord requires of you: only to do justice and to love goodness, and to walk humbly with your God,” (6:8) a call to us in 2020?  This study will focus particularly on the Books of Amos, Hosea, and Micah while also connecting the prophetic tradition to Jesus’ life and ministry as well as to contemporary prophetic voices. The only text required is access to a Bible; further resources will be distributed electronically.

Where: The comfort of your own home! This study will meet on Zoom.

When: Tuesdays beginning September 22 through October 27th from 6:30-8:30p.m.

Cost: There is no cost to participate.

Free will donations towards Adult Faith Formation Programming accepted via check or online giving. Make checks payable to “Church of the Risen Savior” and write “Adult Faith Formation Programming” in the memo line. Mail checks to 1501 E. County Rd. 42, Burnsville, MN 55306. For online donations, be sure to indicate “Adult Faith Formation Programming” in the additional information/notes field at checkout.

Registration for this series closed Sunday, September 20th. If you already had registered and did not receive a welcome email on Monday, September 21st please check your Spam folder.

Questions? Contact Grace Koleczek, Adult Faith Formation & Social Justice Coordinator, grace.koleczek@risensavior.org, 952-698-1724.

VBS (Vacation Bible School)

Church of the Risen Savior

Burnsville, Minnesota

July 19th-22nd, 2021

mornings (9am-12pm)

VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL IS FULL – REGISTRATION IS CLOSED

VBS will be returning to Church of the Risen Savior this summer! Kids entering Preschool (age 4.5 and potty trained) through Grade 5 are invited to Knights of North Castle VBS. Where they will enjoy an interactive, energizing, Bible-based good time as they go on a quest in search of the King’s Armor. They will become Knights and discover how to serve God and God’s mission for their lives.

Outdoors

VBS will look a little different. Stations (craft, music, snack, Bible storytelling, missions and games) will be set up across the parish grounds. Children will be assigned into squads that will move among the different stations. We will not be having assembly this year, as mixing groups is not recommended. In the event of rain, each squad will be assigned an indoor room for the entire morning.

Teen and Adult Volunteers Needed

We need many volunteers for VBS to be a success. Volunteers for VBS are dedicated, flexible, and of course enjoy children. A training session is required for all VBS volunteers about 1 week prior to camp for one hour, provided once during the day and once in the evening to accommodate all volunteers. To learn more click the button below!

Parents that volunteer can receive a 30% discount on their children’s registration fees. Once you’ve registered as a volunteer you will receive the discount coupon code so be sure to register as a volunteer first!
