Baptism

Para informacion sobre bautizos celebrados en espanol, haga clic aqui (FOr information about baptisms celebrated in spanish, click here)

For Catholics, the Sacrament of Baptism is the first step in a lifelong journey of commitment and discipleship.  At Baptism we receive and celebrate God’s free gift of grace and salvation through Jesus Christ.  In Baptism we are reminded that God has chosen us to live and grow with God’s people. As the first Sacrament of Initiation, Baptism is also the sign of a lifelong relationship with God and with the Church.

For children under 7 years old, parents complete a pre-baptism class with the Adult Faith Formation and Social Justice Coordinator prior to the child’s baptism. Classes are currently offered virtually on the first Monday of each month from 7-8:30p.m. [NOTE: The July class will be held on Tuesday, July 5th from 7-8:30p.m. due to the 4th of July falling on Monday.] Complete the intake form below in order to schedule this class. For children 7 years old and older, please go to the C.I.C. page (Christian Initiation of Children). For adults 18 years old and older, please go to the R.C.I.A. page (Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults).

When parents present their child for baptism, they are asking the Church to receive the child as part of the family of Jesus Christ.  They are also making a commitment to their child to help him or her become part of this community of faith.  At baptism parents are told to “make it their constant care to bring up their child in the practice of the faith.”

Baptism Preparation & Celebration at Risen Savior

To begin the process, contact Grace Koleczek by filling out the online form below.  We will work with your family to prepare you for the celebration, hopefully meeting you where you are at in your journey of faith.  You must be a registered member of Risen Savior parish to have your child baptized at Risen Savior.  Grace Koleczek will assist you in completing this process if you are not yet registered.

N.B. ALL paperwork, including submitting a copy of the child’s birth certificate, providing the names of the Godparents, etc., MUST be completed two weeks before the scheduled date of the Baptism.  Failure to comply with this process will automatically result in delaying the celebration of Baptism until a future date.

Christian Initiation for Children (C.I.C.)

Christian Initiation for Children (C.I.C.) is a year-long program for unbaptized children ages 7 and up.  This includes children who did not receive their First Communion in Second Grade and/or are un-catechized. The program will culminate in the reception of the Initiation Sacrament(s) at the Easter Vigil.

Programs will be individualized to meet the unique needs of each of our families and participants.

Registration:  Please register for the grade your child will be in in Faith Formation. Click here for more information on Faith Formation. Please note on the form in the comments section what Sacraments your child needs to receive.

Confirmation Year One & Two in English

Preparation for Confirmation is a two-year process that begins when an individual feels that she or he is ready to learn what it means to live as a fully initiated member of the Church community. Students are welcome to begin the process as early as grade 9. All students in grades 9-11 who wish to prepare for Confirmation must begin with Confirmation Year One and complete BOTH years of preparation. Your schedule for the two-year process will include small group class sessions as well as occasional large group gatherings for the candidates and sponsors. In addition, all Confirmation students are required to engage in community service, attend Sanctuary, and a retreats (Dates TBA). Participation in a Confirmation Retreat is required in both Confirmation Year One and Confirmation Year Two. Details will be available at the Orientation. Classes are held on Sundays from 6:00-7:30 p.m.

We use Loyola Press’ “Called to be Catholic” in year 1 Confirmation. This is a wonderful overview for everyone, no matter where they are in their faith journey. It prepares each student for the second year of Confirmation where students will be using Loyola Press’ “Confirmed in the Spirit.”
