Friends are invited to join us for this mission trip. They do not have to attend Risen Savior. They do still need to be in the 9-12th grade in the 2020-2021 school year however.

Adult Leaders

There will be between 4-6 adult leaders on this mission trip. We are always welcoming new adults to help with our mission trips. If you are interested or know someone who may be interested please email raeann.konkol@risensavior.org.

About The Work We’ll Be Doing

The YouthWorks Kids Club in Leech Lake meets a real need in the community, as there are not many options for kids during the summer months. YouthWorks service projects in Leech Lake include minor home repair, painting and yard work. In the evenings, enjoy a night of food and fellowship at a community cookout. YouthWorks has partnered with this community since 2002.

Expectations Prior to the Trip

Youth are expected to be active in faith growing activities as they prepare for the mission trip. This includes attending Sanctuary regularly to grow as a community.

Transportation & Housing

We will make the trip by rental vans and will be staying at a school or church during the week & at a hotel the last night of the trip.

Evening Activities and Outings

In the evenings, learn from local friends about the community, experience a taste of downtown Cass Lake, MN, and enjoy a community cookout. On the way home we’ll stay someplace fun…TBD.

Participant Meeting Dates

  • Feb. 1, 2021
  • Mar. 1, 2021
  • April 5, 2021
  • May 3, 2021
  • June TBD (Informal meeting/Party)

Fundraisers

There will be several fundraisers available to help youth pay for their mission trip. Most people who make a decent effort can pay for their entire trip by fundraising.

Flower Sales

We hold an annual flower sale the first two weekends in May. All profits go towards the mission trip and youth get credit for shifts worked. Dates are May 1-2 and8-9.

Kwik Trip Gift Cards

Kids are encouraged to sell Kwik Trip gift cards to friends, neighbors, family, or coworkers of their parents. Cards are sold at face value but we receive 5% of the each cards value.

Kwik Trip Car Wash Cards

Kids can sell car wash cards to friends, family, or others and make about $20 per card sold. Cards are sold for $40 and include 5 Ultimate Car Washes.

Stock in Our Youth

Youth can invite people to invest in the mission trip. We use all proceeds from these donation investments to lower the cost of the mission trip for the youths.

Middle School Large Group

Large Group meets on Wednesday nights. Large Group is an extension of the Faith Formation program bringing all of the groups together for fun and faith community. We get together in the Youth Room and play games, pray together, or learn something new about our faith and God.

All 6-8th graders and their friends are welcome to come.

2018-2019 Large Group Dates:

Sanctuary

What is Sanctuary?

Sanctuary is a youth group that seeks to draw us into a deeper relationship with Christ. It is a time when you can just be yourself. There is usually some teaching in the form of faith sharing that is meant to encourage you in the faith. We have regular community nights with meals, service nights with projects at the church, and teaching or other faith sharing nights each month.

Youth from many different area high schools attend Sanctuary including: Apple Valley, Burnsville, Eastview, Lakeville North, Lakeville South, Rosemount, and St. Thomas Academy.

When: Every Wednesday, 7:15-8:45 pm in the Youth Room

Youth Ministry Advisory Committee

October 10, 2019 By Website Admin

The Youth Ministry Advisory Committee is a group of people who care deeply about young people in the 6-12th grades. They help to guide the Youth Ministry program here at Risen Savior and will also be instrumental in helping to create the vision for Youth Ministry within our parish.

The YMAC is being formed to assist in creating a Vision for Youth Ministry, to advise on potential retreats or events, to provide help in creating strategies to engage parents and parishioners, and help brainstorm ways to help our young people stay engaged in their faith.

We plan on having monthly meetings for the foreseeable future. There may be opportunities to reduce the number of meetings in the future but for now we plan to meet monthly to make sure we continue to make progress.

Upcoming Meeting Dates

  • TBD

Requirements To Be Part Of The Youth Ministry Advisory Committee?

  • People 20 years or older
  • Must care about 6-12th graders
  • Be able to attend monthly meetings
  • You don’t have to have a child in the 6-12th grades (We’d love to have a wide range of people and experiences. For this reason we would love to have people with kids who’ve already gone through the Youth Ministry program or who will be going into the Youth Ministry program in the coming years.)

Peer Ministry

October 10, 2019 By Website Admin

What is the Riz Youth Peer Ministry Team?

Great question!

It is a leadership team for young people who want to serve and go further in their faith. They want to take ownership of their faith in real and actionable ways.

This is a group of young people committed to telling other young people in our parish community and the wider community more about Jesus. They do stuff like planning fun games or skits, leading some small groups, coming up with and planning fun outings or service opportunities, and leading Sanctuary nights.

We generally meet on Wednesdays throughout the school year from 6-7:15 pm. There are some nights that schedule is disrupted but for the most part that’s when we meet.

Is It For Me?

There are some very basic qualifications to join our team. We really want to make this available for everyone but for the sake of consistency and planning we did have to come up some requirements.

  • You need to be in the 10-12th grade.
  • You need to be able to be at the meetings MOST (not every but most) Wednesday nights.
  • You should be (or plan) to be actively involved in our Sanctuary group.
  • You need to have a desire to grow in your faith.
  • You need to contribute to the efforts of the group. This is not for people who just want to hang out.

How To Join

There is a small application process to join our team. You basically fill out some forms where you parents give you permission to be part of our team and meet with us on those Wednesday nights. There’s also some questions so we get to know you and about your leadership background.
