Vacation Bible School is a 4-day morning summer camp for kids in preschool (age 4.5) through grade 5. This year the camp will run Mon, July 19th – Thurs July 22nd. Each day of VBS includes music, crafts, snack, games, interactive storytelling, missions, and small group discussions based on the daily Bible story and lesson. We need many volunteers for VBS to be a success. Volunteers for VBS are dedicated, flexible, and of course enjoy children.
Parents that volunteer can receive a 30% discount on their children’s registration fees. Once you’ve registered as a volunteer you will receive the discount coupon code so be sure to register as a volunteer first!
Current Needs for 2021 VBS
6-8 Squad Leaders (age 18+) You will be responsible for a group of up to 12 kids, with an assistant leader to help you out. You will take your squad to various stations crafts, snack, games, missions, Bible storytelling, and music. You will need to be at VBS every day from 8:30 AM – 12:30 PM and attend the training session 1 week prior to camp.
6-8 Assistant Squad Leaders (age 12+) You will assist the Squad Leader with a group of up to 12 kids, taking them to crafts, snack, games, etc. You will need to be at VBS every day from 8:30 AM – 12:30 PM and attend the training session 1 week prior to camp.
Music Station Leader (age 16+) If you are an outgoing vocalist and/or dancer, we would love to have your help leading our music station. Singing will be done in small groups outdoors, social distanced and masked. We sing and dance along to a CD. You will get a copy of the CD and tutorial videos for simple choreography in order to practice at home. During VBS, as children come to your station you will teach them a few songs each day. You will need to be at VBS every day from 8:30 AM – 12:30 PM and attend the the training session 1 week prior to camp.
Craft Station Leader (age 16+) If you are organized and enjoying teaching we would love your help leading our craft station. Crafts will be prepared ahead of time, so you will simply instruct the children on how to create the daily craft when they come to your station. Assistance may be needed in helping some of the children with their craft. You will need to be at VBS every day from 8:30 AM – 12:30 PM and attend the the training session 1 week prior to camp.
Missions Station Leader (age 16+) Lead a station that inspires children to care for others. This station focuses on sharing God’s love. Projects will be prepared beforehand. You will instruct children through the projects and discuss the importance of mission work. You will need to be at VBS every day from 8:30 AM – 12:30 PM and attend the the training session 1 week prior to camp.
Bible Storytelling Leader (16+) If you are an extravert and can lead a team, we would love your help as the Bible Storytelling Leader! Leading the drama team you will bring the daily Bible story to life through skits, storytelling scripts, sign language instructions and active learning. Scripts and ideas will be provided. You will be responsible for assigning roles and organizing at least one practice day beforehand. You will need to be at VBS every day from 8:30 AM – 12:30 PM and attend the the training session 1 week prior to camp.
Bible Storytelling Drama Team (12+) Help bring the daily Bible story to life through fun skits. The script is provided for you. You can choose which days you are able to be in the skits. You will be expected to attend at least one practice day, which will be scheduled once the team is assembled.
Station Helper (age 12+) For those who do not wish to lead a group. Help at one or several of our stations (crafts, snack, games, missions, Bible storytelling, and music.) You can do all 4 days of VBS, from 8:30 AM-12:30PM, or choose the days you are available.
Training and Requirements
A training session is required for all VBS volunteers about 1 week prior to camp for one hour, provided once during the day and once in the evening to accommodate all volunteers.
All adult volunteers who work with children are required to complete a background check, sign a code of conduct and attend Virtus, an online hour and half program that educates adults on how to become better protectors of children from child sexual abuse.
