Prayers of the Faithful – January 27 & 28, 2024

Presider:

Let us pray that we and the world may be open to hear God’s authoritative voice, however it may come to us.

Reader:

  • For the Church: that the authoritative teachings of Jesus will guide and challenge us as we seek to be more authentic disciples, we pray:
  • For all who exercise authority: that they may use their authority as Jesus did, to free people, to heal the sick, and to build up the community, we pray:
  • For all who are prophets: that they may understand the mind and heart of God, share God’s Word faithfully and clearly, and awaken new insights for the renewal of the Church and the advancement of the Reign of God, we pray:
  • For all who have mental and emotional illness: that God’s love will strengthen, heal, and sustain them and help us to accompany them along life’s journey, we pray:
  • For members of Congress and legislatures: that they will hear and comprehend the needs of the powerless and marginalized as legislation and priorities are developed, we pray:
  • For those who are ill and have asked for our prayers including: Sonia Wachendorf; that they may they find comfort in the healing touch of God and in the loving care of family and friends, we pray:
  • Today we pray our Beloved Dead, including Bill Wallenta, Meg Mercado, Pauline Ott, and Mary Glubka. We also pray for those who have died more recently, including Janice Menning.  That mercy and grace surround them, bringing solace to their spirits and a comforting light to guide them home, we pray:

Presider:

Loving God, grant us the wisdom to discern your word to us in every age and time and circumstance, so that we may be one with you and with one another. We pray in the name of Jesus, your Son, who became your Word on our behalf. Amen.
