Prayers of the Faithful

Prayers of the Faithful May 14 & 15, 2022

May 13, 2022 By Kevin Rotty

Prayers of the Faithful May 14 & 15, 2022

Presider:

Jesus commands us to love one another as he has loved us. Let us pray to be faithful to this command.  Today’s response is “Risen Savior, hear our prayer.”

Lector:

  • For the Church: that we may be known as disciples of Jesus by the love and care that we show one another, we pray:
  • For the grace of insight: that we may recognize all that God is doing in our lives, our faith community, and the world around us so that we may cooperate in bringing forth the reign of God in our time and place, we pray:
  • For the poor, hungry, and neglected in our nation and all over the world, that their cries for daily bread may inspire works of compassion, advocacy, and mercy among those to whom much has been given., we pray:
  • For all who have been displaced by war, famine, or natural disasters: that God will protect them from harm, touch the hearts of many to reach out and assist them, and lead them to places of safety, we pray:
  • For all who are graduating this spring: that they will find good ways to use their gifts and skills so that they may contribute to society and find meaning and satisfaction in their work, we pray:
  • That those who are ill and have asked for our prayers, including Sandy Hartung, and  Herman Josef Brass, may feel Christ’s healing touch, we pray:
  • That all who mourn the death of a loved one, especially Brian Kopek, brother-in-law of Darleen and David Ivy; that they may find comfort in the joy of Jesus’ resurrection, we pray:

Presider:

Loving God, you always hear our prayers and grant our needs. Help us to take up your son’s command to love so that our world might reflect more fully your glory. We ask this through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Prayers of the Faithful May 7 & 8, 2022

May 6, 2022 By Kevin Rotty

Prayers of the Faithful                                                          May 7 & 8, 2022

Presider:

Let us pray now for ourselves and for all who are in need of shepherding.

Lector:

  • For the Church, that we may hear the voice of Jesus and follow him to fuller life and loving service, we pray:
  • For all who have shepherded us, particularly parents, teachers, and mentors: that God will continue to work through them and guide them in helping others to grow, we pray:
  • For greater care of earth’s resources:  that God will move hearts to greater awareness of the fragility of the air and freshwater so that they may be preserved for our children and grandchildren, we pray:
  • For the children receiving First Communion this week: that they may grow in their faith and their awareness of God’s love for them, we pray:
  • For all mothers and those who have been like a mother to us: that God will bless and strengthen them and inspire us to greater love by their witness of love and concern, we pray:
  • For those who are ill and have asked for our prayers, including Julian Smischney, Sandy Hartung, and Herman Joseph Brass, may they feel the Good Shepherd’s healing touch, we pray:
  • For all who mourn the death of a loved one, may they find comfort in the joy of Jesus’ resurrection, we pray:

Presider:   Loving God, you shepherd your people with unfailing care. Hear our prayers that one day we might enjoy eternal life with you. We ask this through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Prayers of the Faithful for April 30/May 1, 2022

Presider:

Confident that God provides for all our needs, we lift up our prayers to the Lord.

Lector:

  • For the Church: that empowered by the Holy Spirit, we may give convincing witness to the freeing and healing power of the Risen Christ, we pray:
  • For greater discipleship: that we may not be limited by past failures but be open to God’s new invitations and rely upon God to bring to fulfillment the mission entrusted to us, we pray:
  • For the newly initiated members of our community with whom we celebrated at the Easter Vigil: that they may grow in their faith and their awareness of God’s love for them, we pray:
  • For those mourning the death of murder-victim Lily Peters of Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin: that God will welcome her soul and grant peace and healing to all those impacted by this tragedy, we pray:
  • We pray in fond memory of Fr. Jim Gorman as we hold the silent auction of the art pieces that he and his family so generously donated to this faith community, we pray:

  • For the Church: that we may be transformed through our encounters with the living Christ and be instruments of healing and forgiveness for those who are hurting, we pray:
  • For the gift of the Spirit upon the world: that God will breathe the Spirit upon the chaos of our society and its financial and political structures so that the dignity of each person may blossom, we pray:
  • That the witness of the scriptures will lead all who are questioning their faith to new and deeper understanding of God’s presence and action in their lives, we pray:
  • For peace in all the troubled areas of the world, particularly in Ukraine: that Christ’s victory over death may bring an end to war, genocide, and inhumane treatment of people and help us to work together to end disease and malnutrition, we pray:
