Prayers of the Faithful

Prayers of the Faithful for December 24/25, 2020

December 25, 2020 By Kevin Rotty

Prayers of the Faithful:                                  December 24/25, 2020

Presider:

As we rejoice in the love of God, which is reborn among us on this holy night/day; let us also remember those in need throughout the world.

Lector:

  • For the Church on this glorious Feast of Christmas: that we may know how close God is to us, how blest we are, and how God is always with us, we pray:
  • For an outpouring of God’s favor in our time; that the Spirit will rekindle a childlike spirit of wonder and awe within us and an openness to all the opportunities that God offers us, we pray:
  • For Pope Francis and all who serve the church: that God will inspire them in leading us to deeper faith and greater love during this Christmas season, we pray:
  • For a spirit of connectedness: that as the birth of Jesus united God with humanity, we may grow in our relationship with God and with all who walk the human journey with us, we pray:
  • For all who are experiencing darkness through isolation, depression, grief, or violence: that the light of Christ may scatter the darkness and bring hope to their hearts, we pray:
  • For all who are assisting others this Christmas season: that God will guide and protect healthcare workers, public safety officials, and utility workers, we pray:
  • For all those who are ill and have asked for our prayers: especially Cheri Henderson, we pray:
  • For those who have died in the knowledge that Christ has overcome sin and death, (especially) _______________________________________

that God will fill them with life and give consolation and peace to those who grieve them, we pray:

Presider:

Lord God, we thank you for sending us the most perfect gift – Jesus, the Messiah;

and for revealing your grace to us. Help us to accept your gifts of Salvation.

We ask this through Jesus Christ our Lord.

  • For confidence in God’s providence: that in facing life’s obstacles, we may place our trust in God for whom nothing is impossible. We Pray to the Lord:
  • For all who are isolated and alone, particularly those who are homebound or in nursing homes: that Christ may fill their emptiness and open our hearts to reach out to them. We Pray to the Lord:
  • For all who are away from home, particularly members of the military and relief workers: that God will keep them safe, help them fulfill their duties, and bring them home quickly. We Pray to the Lord:
  • For all who are suffering economically: that God will protect and guide those who are facing eviction, have lost employment, or who struggle to have enough to eat. We Pray to the Lord:
