Prayers of the Faithful

Prayers of the Faithful for April 23 & 24, 2022

April 22, 2022 By Kevin Rotty

Prayers of the Faithful for April 23 & 24, 2022

Presider:

We have not seen but still believe. With confident faith, we bring our concerns before God.  Please respond: “Risen Savior, hear our prayer.”

Lector:

  • For the Church: that we may be transformed through our encounters with the living Christ and be instruments of healing and forgiveness for those who are hurting, we pray:
  • For the gift of the Spirit upon the world: that God will breathe the Spirit upon the chaos of our society and its financial and political structures so that the dignity of each person may blossom, we pray:
  • That the witness of the scriptures will lead all who are questioning their faith to new and deeper understanding of God’s presence and action in their lives, we pray:
  • For peace in all the troubled areas of the world, particularly in Ukraine: that Christ’s victory over death may bring an end to war, genocide, and inhumane treatment of people and help us to work together to end disease and malnutrition, we pray:
  • For the gift of wisdom: that God will show us how our gifts can alleviate the needs of our communities and help us to use them to serve and build up one another, we pray:
  • That those who are ill feel Jesus’ healing touch in the loving hands of their caregivers, including Julian Smischney (pr. SMISH-nee), and Elle Muchow (pr. ell  MOO-koh), granddaughter of Darlene and David Ivy.
  • we pray:
  • Today we pray for our beloved dead, including Juan Pena Chavez, Jerry Simondet, David Orth and Dick Thamert, as well as those who have died more recently including Mary Jo Raske; may they find comfort in the joy of Jesus’ resurrection, we pray:

Presider:

Generous God, plant your precious gift of faith ever deeper in our hearts. All that we ask, we ask in the name of Jesus, our Risen Lord.

Prayers of the Faithful:  April 17, 2022 – EASTER SUNDAY

April 16, 2022 By Kevin Rotty

Prayers of the Faithful:  April 17, 2022

Presider:

On this most holy day, we are made a new creation in the image of the Risen Christ. Let us pray that the joy and hope of Easter may be shared by all the earth.  Please respond; “Risen Savior, Hear our Prayer.”

Lector:

  • For the Church: that renewed through word and sacrament, we may radiate the light of Christ, be strong in faith, confident in hope, and abounding with love for God and neighbor, we pray:
  • For all the newly baptized: that they may faithfully follow Jesus, grow in their love for God, and keep the light of Christ burning brightly in their lives, we pray:
  • For all who are away from home this Easter, particularly members of the military and relief workers: that God will protect from harm, guide their service, and bring them home safely, we pray:
  • For greater respect and appreciation of human life: that we may recognize God’s gift of life in everyone and strive to honor and support that life in each person that we meet, we pray:
  • For greater stewardship of God’s creation: that we may work to use earth’s resources prudently and preserve them for the good of future generations, we pray:
  • For nations in turmoil: that God will break the cycles of violence and discord, end acts of revenge, protect the innocent, and raise leaders who will establish peace and justice in areas of conflict, we pray
  • That those who are ill and have asked for our prayers, find healing, including: Kayo Silvernale, Rose Call and Elle Muchow, grand daughter of Darlene and David Ivy, we pray:
  • That all who mourn the death of a loved one find comfort in the joy of Jesus’ resurrection, especially; we pray:

Presider:

Glorious God, you raised up your Son from the dead. Raise us up and hear our prayer that we may praise your glory today and always. We pray though Jesus Christ our Lord. AMEN.

April 9, 2022 By Kevin Rotty

Prayers of the Faithful: Palm Sunday – April 9 & 10, 2022

Presider:

My brothers and sisters in Christ, as we enter this Holy Week, let us pray for our world and ourselves, asking God for what we need to make a holy difference.

Lector:

  • For a holy week of peace in those places where there is violence, we pray …
  • For a holy week of unity among all Christians, we pray …
  • For a holy week for those without homes, without jobs, without a means to provide for their loved ones, we pray …
  • For those who will receive the sacraments of initiation at Easter and be received into the church, and for this community as we enter these holy days together, we pray …
  • For a holy week for those who are ill and have asked for our prayers especially
  • Peg Fink, Kayo Silvernale, Rose Call and Elle Muchow, grand daughter of Darlene and David Ivy. May all who suffer be encouraged by Jesus, who conquered suffering and death, we pray…
  • For those who have died, especially Diane Johnson and Tudi Yunke; for those who are dying, and for those who are grieving the passing of a loved one, we pray …
