Prayers of the Faithful September 3 & 4, 2022
Presider:
On this journey of discipleship, let us ask God’s help for ourselves and for the whole world.
Lector:
- For the Church: that we may strive to open our hearts to God each day and be vigilant against allowing anyone or anything to displace God as the center of our life, we pray:
- For the gift of Wisdom: that the Spirit of God will enlighten our minds and guide us in making loving and life-giving decisions each day, we pray:
- For those who are victims of human trafficking, may they be freed from their captors and receive support in healing and rebuilding lives, we pray:
- For a true appreciation of all of our possessions: that we may accept them as gifts from God, use them to serve God and others, and never be possessed by them, we pray:
- As we approach Labor Day, we pray for all workers as well as those unemployed or under-employed, that God will grant them strength to complete each day and rest when they are weary, we pray:
- For those who are ill and have asked for our prayers including: Christine Teresa De La Rosa, Pat Scully, Albert Fischer, and Sue Bertram. May they find comfort in God’s love and from the care of their family and friends, we pray:
- We remember those who have died with faith in the resurrection: may they rejoice forever in God’s eternal home, we pray:
Presider:
God who is beyond our understanding, we trust that you are with us as we struggle to live as disciples. Be with us as we commit ourselves to follow your Son, Jesus. We ask this through that same Son, Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
