Prayers of the Faithful May 8 & 9, 2021

Prayers of the Faithful                                  May 8 & 9, 2021

Presider:

In response to the great commandment to love one another, let us pray for those near and dear to us and for those we do not know throughout the world.

Reader:

  • For the church: that it may be a sign of love above all else, we pray:
  • For the world’s leaders: that they may find ways to eliminate barriers to peace and justice, we pray:
  • For the courage to lay down our lives for one another: that we may allow God to cleanse us of pride and strengthen us to love fully, we pray:
  • For all those whom we find it difficult to love: that God will touch our hearts to recognize them as sisters and brothers who, like us, are loved by God, we pray:
  • For the children receiving the Eucharist for the first time this week, may they receive love and support from our community to nourish their faith, we pray:
  • For those who are ill and have asked for our prayers, including Scot Highberg. May all who suffer be comforted by our love and concern and by God’s healing touch, we pray:
  • For all who mourn the death of a loved one, especially César Cruz, former Latino Music Ministry associate at Risen Savior who died of Covid-19 complications while traveling to his home country of Guatemala. May all who have died be forever held in the loving arms of God, we pray:

Presider:

God of love, you sent Jesus to demonstrate to us the simplest, but most difficult, of all commandments. Strengthen in us the power to love one another. Make us aware of the barriers we create to separate us from each other. Help us to remember that above all, you love us. We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen
