Prayers of the Faithful for March 9 & 10, 2019

Presider:

In this season of renewal and repentance, let us pray for ourselves and for all who are in need throughout the world.

Reader:

For the Church: that we may be faithful to our identity as children of God and remain single-minded in seeking to do God’s will, we pray:

For all who hunger each day, particularly children: that our hearts may be open to sharing our bounty with all who are in need during this Lenten season, we pray:

For the grace to face temptations: that the Spirit of God will lead us to freedom and wholeness as we face trials and temptations in life, we pray:

For all who are estranged from the church: that the Spirit will heal their wounds, give them a new understanding and help them find a welcoming community to support them on their faith journey, we pray:

For this community of faith: that through our Lenten journey we may renew our baptismal covenant and become more faithful Christians in word and deed, we pray:

For the sick and suffering in our community, including Mary Matthis, Mary Jane Franzen, Stacy Crawford, and John Gieske. For all who suffer, we pray:

For those who have died, and for all who mourn their passing, we pray:

Presider:

Merciful God, you were with Jesus in his times of temptation and trouble. Be with us when we struggle with the faith commitment made when we were baptized. Help us to remember that you are also our refuge, our fortress and our sustainer. We pray in the name of Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen.
