Prayers of the Faithful – September 13 & 14, 2025

Presider:

Trusting in the power of Christ’s cross, which transforms suffering into life, we bring before God the needs of the Church, the world, and all who long for healing and peace:

Lector:

  • For the Church: that we may be a steadfast witness to the dignity of the human person, and a source of healing and reconciliation in the face of violence. We pray to the Lord.
  • For our nation, in this perilous moment: that we may reject all violence and division, and work together for peace, justice, and the protection of every human life. We pray to the Lord.
  • For all public figures and leaders: that they may be guided by wisdom, speak with integrity, and foster unity rather than discord. We pray to the Lord.
  • For those who have died through acts of violence, including those recently taken from us: that they may be received into God’s mercy and that their loved ones may find comfort. We pray to the Lord.
  • For our community gathered here: that we may rely on God in all things and be instruments of peace in our daily lives. We pray to the Lord.
  • That people of all faiths use the Season of Creation as a time to remember, respect, pray and act for the good of all of creation, We pray to the Lord:
  • For those who are ill and have asked for our prayers. May they find comfort in the healing touch of God and by the loving care of family and friends. We pray to the Lord
  • We remember those of our community who have died with faith in the resurrection; may they rejoice forever in God’s eternal home, We pray to the Lord.

Presider:

God of mercy, your Son’s cross is our hope and salvation. Hear our prayers and grant us the grace to bear the cross with faith, to reject violence and hatred, and to live in the peace won for us through Christ our Lord. Amen.
