When a loved one dies, our lives can feel turned upside down and we need to make many decisions in a short amount of time. Our Pastoral Care staff is here to provide emotional support and assist with planning the funeral liturgy. We continue to provide support and resources in the days and months following your loss.

FUNERAL LUNCHEON MINISTRY

Risen Savior Funeral Luncheon Teams continue to provide a caring presence by providing a meal and hospitality in our church hall following the funeral liturgy. The cost of the luncheon is $7.00 per person.

GRIEF FOLLOW-UP MINISTRY

After the funeral, a member of our community reaches out to the families of the deceased to offer support and listening. Cards are sent throughout the first year following the death.

GRIEF RESOURCES

Growing Through Loss is an interdenominational coalition of south suburban churches that offers free support for adults experiencing loss, grief, transition, or relationship and health challenges. A Fall and Spring series are offered every year. The Church of the Risen Savior is an active member of this coalition. Evening meetings include speakers and facilitated, small group discussions.

At Risen Savior, we understand that the loss of a loved one can be an overwhelming time, bringing with it many difficult decisions that need to be made swiftly. Our dedicated Pastoral Care staff is available to offer compassionate emotional support and guidance throughout the process of planning the funeral liturgy. We are committed to providing ongoing support and resources to you and your family in the challenging days and months that follow your loss.

We recognize that practical questions may arise, such as selecting a funeral director or considering cemetery options. You may also be contemplating scripture readings and hymns for your service, or simply wish to understand the process of funeral planning at Risen Savior. To address these and any other questions you may have, we are hosting a presentation titled Everything You Want to Know About Funeral Planning.

This informative session will take place on April 14 at 2:00 p.m. It will be an opportunity for us to share comprehensive information about funeral planning and to provide a platform for you to receive answers to your specific inquiries from our panel.
