Prayers of the Faithful for December 1 & 2, 2018
Presider:
Our loving God is ever present to us and vigilant for our needs. Therefore, we make known these needs.
Lector:
For the Church: that we may live in the awareness of God’s presence with us today and look to the future with childlike expectancy for the fulfillment of God’s promises, we pray:
For the grace of vigilance: that we may stay attentive to the Word of God and the signs of our times so that our hearts may not be numbed into complacency nor our minds trapped by worry, we pray:
For all who live in fear and confusion: whether they are rich or poor, immigrant, refugee, or famous, that they may encounter the light of Christ that will show them the way forward to a fuller life, we pray:
For strength and peace in the face of suffering: that God will plant the divine Word of hope deep in our hearts and give us the strength to remain faithful even when tragedy and suffering enter our lives, we pray:
For all gathered here: that Christ may increase our love for one another and help us to be overflowing with generosity toward all who are in need, we pray:
For those who are ill and have asked for our prayers, including, Tom Diger. May they and all who suffer, be comforted by your healing touch and by the prayers of friends and family, we pray:
For those who have died, especially, Lewis Barbe, the husband of Diane Barbe. Comfort those who mourn the passing of a loved-one, we pray:
Presider:
O Lord, grant us the ability to see the face of Jesus wherever he appears among us, and help us to live in awareness this Advent season. We ask this through our Lord, Jesus Christ. Amen.
