Prayers of the Faithful for October 22 & 23, 2016

Presider:

Let us humbly stand before our God and pray for our needs.

Lector:

For the church: that it may be an authentic faith community in service to others, we pray:

For all leaders of government, nationally, regionally, and municipally: that God will inspire them with new ways to promote the welfare of all citizens, we pray:

For growth in prayer: that the Spirit teach us how to pray so that we may deepen our dependency upon God and open us to the length and breadth of God’s merciful kindness, we pray:

For the grace of humility: that we may come before God honestly, surrendering our pride, and recognizing the limits of strengths and abilities, we pray:

For a spirit of gratitude: that we may recognize all our gifts, possessions and opportunities as gifts from God and place each of them in the service of God, we pray:

For those who are ill and have asked for our prayers including, Ron Diger, Verlyn Larson, Robert McDonald, Fr. Jim Gorman, Doug Vetter, and Jerome Munch. May God’s healing love touch them and restore them to fullness of life, we pray:

For those who have died; may all who have died be forever held in the loving arms of God, we pray:

Presider:

Merciful God, you hear the cry of those who humble themselves before your majesty. Hear our prayers that one day we might be exalted with you forever. We ask this through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
