Prayers of the Faithful for September 15 & 16, 2018
Presider:
We who profess to follow Jesus rely on prayer to strengthen us. And so we pray now for ourselves, for one another and for the whole world.
Lector:
For the courage, as baptized Christians, to follow where Jesus leads us, we pray:
For Pope Francis and all leaders in the Church: that God will give them wisdom in addressing the wounds in the Church and guide them in renewing and restoring the community of faith, we pray:
For those whose cross of suffering seems unbearable, may they be strengthened by the support and care of this community and God’s grace, we pray:
For the Christian faithful and all people of goodwill, that we might find the compassion to walk in solidarity with immigrants and refugees, and the courage to advocate on their behalf, we pray:
For those affected by Hurricane Florence, may they be comforted by God’s love and be blessed with the strength to endure, and for aid workers providing support and relief to those suffering from the storm’s destruction, we pray:
For those who are ill and have asked for our prayers, including Mary Thul and Herman Joseph Brass. May all who suffer be healed by God’s loving touch and by the prayers of this community, we pray:
For those who have died, especially, Andrea Saldana de Rivera, the grandmother of Andrea Rodriguez. May they experience the peace and joy of God’s kingdom, we pray:
Presider:
Loving God, you sent your son to be “the Christ” and our Savior: hear our prayers, be with us always as we follow him faithfully, and lead us to eternal life. We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen.
