Prayers of the Faithful            September 12 & 13, 2026

Presider:

Trusting in God, who is kind and merciful, slow to anger, and rich in compassion, let us bring our prayers for the Church and the world.

Lector:

  • For the Church—that, having received God’s abundant mercy, we may become a living sign of forgiveness, reconciliation, and compassion in our world. Let us pray to the Lord:
  • For leaders of nations and all who hold positions of authority—that they may reject vengeance and division and have the courage to pursue justice, reconciliation, and lasting peace. Let us pray to the Lord:
  • For communities divided by anger, violence, prejudice, or generations of resentment—that patient dialogue and the work of reconciliation may open new paths toward healing. Let us pray to the Lord:
  • For all those whose lives were forever changed by the attacks of September 11 – as we mark the twenty-fifth anniversary, may we remember those who died, honor those who responded with courage and compassion, and recommit ourselves to the work of peace and reconciliation. Let us pray to the Lord:
  • For all creation, entrusted to our care—that the living water of God may remind us of our responsibility to restore, protect, and share the earth’s abundance. Let us pray to the Lord:
  • For those who are ill and have asked for our prayers, including: Barbara Stapleton, Kristy Kankovsky, Theresa Gerten, Monica Marcellus, and Judy Kuhl; that all who suffer may be healed by God’s loving touch and by the prayers of this community. Let us pray to the Lord:

Presider:

Merciful God, you do not treat us according to our sins, but surround us with kindness and compassion. Help us to receive your mercy with grateful hearts and to share that same mercy freely with one another. We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen.
