Holy Days and Seasonal Info

The next major holy day of obligation is the Solemnity of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, which falls on Saturday, August 15, 2026. However, because it falls on a Saturday, the obligation to attend Mass is dispensed. NOTE: While the Solemnity of the Assumption usually requires Mass attendance, the obligation is canceled in 2026 because the date falls on a Saturday. Under USCCB rules, whenever this feast lands on a Saturday or Monday, the requirement to attend Mass is lifted.
