You might like to find out a little about the Risen Savior history:
In the late sixties, the township of Lebanon, now known as Apple Valley, grew very rapidly. A new parish, officially named Church of the Risen Savior, was founded on September 10, 1970, with 350 families from Apple Valley, Burnsville, and Lakeville. Fr. Frederick Cussler served as the first pastor.
A house on 1001 Baldwin Drive in Apple Valley was purchased as a rectory. This became the focal point of the new community. It served as residence, office, and meeting place. The garage became the chapel for Mass, confessions, and baptisms. It soon became evident that the residential garage could no longer accommodate the needs of the rapidly growing Risen Savior parish. A committee was formed to plan and implement the construction of a church and parish center on land in Burnsville, donated by a parishioner. In the interim, Sunday Masses were celebrated at various locations, including local Christian churches and Westview Elementary School in Apple Valley.
Finally, in 1978, the new worship area and multi-purpose spaces were finished. Some called the new building “the white warehouse.” It is simplicity clothed with the Spirit. By then, the Risen Savior population had grown to over 1,000 households.
By 1988, the community had grown to 1,850 households, and an expansion of the original worship space was needed and was completed in Spring of 1989. The construction of the lower level, the youth room, the music room, and the office renovation were completed in 1996. The Risen Savior population had grown to 2,900 households.
In 2004, a Sunday Mass in Spanish was added to schedule, as was the Latino Ministry serving approximately 400 households.
In 2008, projection screens were installed in the worship space.
In 2020, electronic message boards were mounted on the Risen Savior concrete sign by County Road 42.
