Prayers of the Faithful for November 30 & December 1, 2019

November 27, 2019 By Website Admin

Presider:

Let us pray that this holy season will make us alert to Christ’s coming through the needs and concerns of all people.

Lector:

For the church: that we may be a focused and watchful people during this Advent season, we pray,

For all Christians: that we may put on the mind and heart of Christ and be a source of light and hope for all, we pray:

For Father Fayant and other leaders of our sister parish at St. Rosa of Lima, that they may have the wisdom and guidance of the Holy Spirit in their work during this Advent season.

For alertness: that the Spirit will shake us from complacency and help us to actively search for God in our lives each day, we pray:

For all who await God’s blessings, particularly for those who are expecting a child, for those who are separated from family or homeland, for members of the military awaiting to return home, and for those who are facing death: that God’s comforting and strengthening love will sustain them, we pray:

For those who are ill and have asked for our prayers. May they and all who suffer be comforted by your healing touch and by the prayers of friends and family, we pray:

For those who have died. Comfort those who mourn the passing of a loved-one, we pray:

Presider:

God who is ever present, grant us the ability to see the face of Jesus wherever he appears among us, and help us to live in awareness this Advent season. We ask this through our Lord, Jesus Christ. Amen.

Prayers of the Faithful for Thanksgiving Day

November 27, 2019 By Website Admin

Presider:

Today, as we joyfully thank God for all the blessings we have been given, we ask continued blessings on ourselves, our neighbors, and our world.

Reader:

With grateful thanks for the Word of God, and for God’s Church; may all members grow in gratitude for the many gifts bestowed upon them, we pray:

With gratefulness for Thanksgiving dinners and warm homes, we ask that the hungry will be fed and the homeless will be given warm shelter, we pray:

With gratefulness for the freedom we experience in this country, we ask that people of all nations will come to experience peace and the absence of oppression, we pray:

With gratefulness for this good earth and the richness of nature, we ask that the earth will be cared for so that it will continue to sustain life for us and for future generations, we pray:

With gratefulness for the love we share in our families and with friends, we ask that the lonely and those who are ignored will be blessed with loving companions and good neighbors, we pray:

With gratefulness for good health, we ask that those who are ill in body, mind, or spirit be comforted by the healing power of God, we pray:

With gratefulness for the mercy God has shown us we offer those unwritten prayers that we hold in our hearts. We also remember those who have died and now know the joy and peace of the Resurrection, we pray:

Presider:

Generous and gracious God, you give us gifts beyond measure. Hear our prayers that we might one day fully share in your most wondrous gift of life everlasting. With grateful hearts we pray through Christ our Lord. Amen

Prayers of the Faithful for November 23 & 24, 2019

November 22, 2019 By Website Admin

Presider:

We pray with Christ, the suffering King, for the suffering people of the world.

Lector:

For the Church: that it may be a viable witness to Christ as the suffering King, we pray:

For all who exercise authority: that they may recognize the source of their power and authority, and be good stewards of the offices which God has entrusted to them, we pray:

For healing of our nation: that God will heal divisions and help all to work for the common good and the progress of all people, we pray:

For the grace of forgiveness: that we may be moved to forgive all who have injured us and show concern and compassion for them, we pray:

For all who are traveling this week: that their visits with family and friends will renew them and that they may arrive safely to their destinations, we pray:

For those who are ill and have asked for our prayers; may God’s healing love touch them and restore them to fullness of life, we pray:

For those who have died; for all whose names have been inscribed in our Book of the Dead, and for those grieving the passing of a loved-one, we pray:

Presider:

God of the powerless: You gave us your son to usher in a new reign of peace and justice. Jesus has shown us that this Kingdom is inhabited by those whose only power is love. We pray for the courage to live in and strengthen this Kingdom, meant for all. We ask this through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen
